"tragedy, ecstasy, doom"

“i’m interested only in expressing basic human emotions—tragedy, ecstasy, doom, and so on” – mark rothko i look up at this world bigger than me a pervasive melancholy rust and blue do you feel sad like i do? with tears and rage and toil just before the grief consumes you one last fight i look up at the suns and sunflowers and wonders unseen spores of euphoric hallucinations erupting on my arms do you feel joy like i do? unhinged, unbridled, uneasy just before the delirium consumes you one last hurrah i look down upon my clothes tarred, disheveled, my skin scruffy swathes of inevitable darkness, the silent god or godless echos do you dwell on death like i do? serene in its monumentality, sure in its quiet just before you perish a final relief
