Words are all I have

Most used words in my blog
September 18th, 2010 is when I started this blog. I don't think I have written enough blog-posts to warrant a year-ending special blog-post on the blog. I can't even say the true character of my blog- the posts have been a mix.

This cloud is an attempt, albeit a tad superficial, to understand my writing. Working with a governance/political magazine has certainly left an impression on me- the biggest words have been media, information, government and news.

I certainly need to write more on women, especially the free-spirited ones. And on society. Considering the fact that not long ago I  wanted to start a writing project on MK Gandhi, I need to focus on him more than the contemporary and not in the same league Rahul Gandhi.

I am making a mental, and a written (!!), note that science has to feature on my blog- after all it was my first love. Pushing the peddle on Bill Bryson's books for inspiration. And Douglas Adams. (OK, that last one is a joke, I meant Asimov and Crichton.)

Sports too- can't let it limit to one essay on Nadal a year. Even if I am not as keen a sports enthusiast as this guy.

I have read lots of blogs this year- some have had flashes of brilliance, some have been consistently wonderful, and some, well, avoidable. My favorite blog entry for the year (leaving aside my own!) is this. Well, you could put it down to the fact that the writer is one of my best friends and I was with her at the place she is writing about. But mostly because she captures the essence of the place very beautifully, and draws some delightful insights. (Without mentioning me, her fellow traveler, even once! Bah!) I expect her to be a more regular blogger next year, writing better and better.

Of my own posts, my favorite has been SOS countries for it was a deeply honest and heart-felt attempt. I hope to continue with the same honesty in the next year.

The find of the year for me has been this one. A blog listing memorable Hindi film dialogues. A most unique and praiseworthy attempt by the chronicler. Pretty funny when these are read without the context. (And some even with.)

I had another blog some time back which no longer exists. It took me a lot of time to prepare myself to start another- for it is a commitment maintaining one. But it has been a great experience. The writer (pardon me for calling myself that) has been given a slate to put her words on. To quote another writer, "Words mean more than what is set down on paper." They tell you so much about the person who is writing them, as much as the subject of the writings. They are a writer's only, but powerful, weapon.

I leave you with this song by the Bee Gees.

"...This world has lost its glory, lets start a brand new story..."
